comparison on Shooting Wars and Article

I find Journalism and being in the army a very different situation being that you see in Journalism depending on the situation well depending on this book so far as i read you can bargain with your life as oppose to being in the army and just being shot at.
The interesting part is that when talking about  the article when it dissscusses what the truth is  different depending on the person and the book when   Burns was being threaten to show the truth as seen by the Iraq part b/c ovously he is showing Americas side when  as a Journalist your suppose to show both sides and let your country decide for yourself but of course that as easier said than done when someone is trying to kill your family  fare doesnt matter and when someone shoots at you shoot back.

The Things They Carried

T his article was very interesting. It was clearly reading someones thoughts that a person couldn't have comprehended and written down if they haven't been there.
The story of his friend Riley was very personal to him yet intact enough and on a personal level to him content and in peace enough to write down.  From what i understood , from what he wrote about the truth of a story isn't black and white. The truth is different to different people. If a few people see or participate in the same exact thing the truth is going to be different to each person. For him because he loved his friend who died it was a spiritual experience, to the enemy it was a victory to a person in the army who didn't know him it was  a beware sign yet that is all the truth which is a sad fact. At the end if the day it was a human beings life that was cut too short

Shooting War

I am really enjoying this book. It feels more like a show to me. When I started reading it Jimmy reminded me of someone who came out of the army who as much as they are called a hero is truly traumatized by what they have seen and think how could what i have done been good. The perky news lady blazayness  though complementing Jimmy makes what hes done seem worthless because obvousely she just cant understand what he has been threw by how content she is when she is talking yet from her point of view this is one of a thousand stories
This reminds me of todays world what sells papers . The deed that is being done or who is doing. Jimmy Burns or the deaths in starbucks, similair to the third world counties whos children are starving or the fact that Angelina Joli is visiting them. This says a lot.

My living situation is rather odd, let me explain.

I just recently sold my apartment which I have to say was quite a relief as the housing market is in rather a shamble. The apartment was sold to a student who wanted us to leave right away before out place was ready. This left us with a few days to pack up and ship out.

Our furniture and clothing (well most of it) now lives in Public Storage and we live in a basement of a friends house. So far things are good but its not easy sharing a kitchen and bathroom with others. Oh well I guess it could be worse as i write these words so many people seem to be loosing their job in Wall Street so I should be happy and grateful and I have a roof and I sold my pale before it could have been too late.

These are just a few notes - considering you will have to read my blog for the next few months.
Any advise about making the most of space is appreciated.

The Mercy Seat

I recently read 'The Mercy Seat'. The play was very moving for me as it dealt with morality and how somebody was considering using the events of 9/11 as a way to cover up a affair. The character of Ben was having an affair with his boss and he is thinking about claiming to have died in the attack to cover up his affair and run away. I was struck by the duel sadness of the towers falling down and this marriage falling apart. The towers represented the union of man and wife and as they fall apart so this marriage was also doing the same. Everything seem to come to a head on this day and I felt like times like 9/11 causes a person to look a their life for good or bad.

When you see something so sad happen on a split second we look at ourself and evaluate if we are living the life we want to live.
In the school I watched a YouTube.com montage of the second tower being hit on 9/11. This is particular poignant to me because I live 2 blocks from the Brooklyn's Heights promenade which has become a focal point for people to think about the tragic event of that day. On 9/11 I was less mature and was not able to fully understand the magnitude of the day however today 7 years later and living close to the promenade I feel much more connected to the event and the lives of the people lost on that day. I also feel angry that it has taken me so long to get to this point.
